Ingredients

  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1/2 pound deli-sliced roast beef
  • 1 cup grated Swiss cheese
  • 1 packet dry onion soup mix
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup beef broth for dipping sauce
  • Cheese substitutes: Gruyere provolone, white cheddar
  • Protein substitutes: turkey or plant-based meat
  • Dough substitute: puff pastry

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and spray a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. Roll out one can of crescent rolls in the dish and press seams together.
  3. Layer roast beef evenly over dough and top with grated Swiss cheese.
  4. Mix onion soup mix, melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder; drizzle over cheese.
  5. Roll out second crescent roll sheet and place on top, sealing seams well.
  6. Bake 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Heat beef broth in a small pot for au jus.
  8. Cool for 5 minutes, then cut into squares and serve with warm au jus.

Notes

Pat roast beef dry to avoid soggy bottom crusts and allow squares to rest before cutting for cleaner slices.
