Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Red or pink food coloring optional

Method
 

  1. Puree strawberries until smooth and set aside.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg, vanilla, and strawberry puree; mix until combined.
  5. Gradually fold in dry ingredients to form a soft dough.
  6. Chill dough for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and coat in granulated sugar.
  9. Place balls 2 inches apart on baking sheets.
  10. Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are set and fine cracks appear.
  11. Cool 5 minutes on the sheet, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

Chill dough thoroughly to prevent excess spreading. Use fresh or frozen strawberries for authentic flavor and natural color.
