Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish and arrange sliced brioche or challah.
- Whisk eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
- Pour custard over the bread, pressing gently to soak. Refrigerate 30 minutes or overnight.
- Bake 25–30 minutes until golden and set. Broil 2–3 minutes for extra crispness.
- Sprinkle sugar on top and caramelize with a torch or broiler until crisp.
- Cool slightly and serve with berries, powdered sugar, or maple syrup.
Notes
Use brioche for best texture; torch in circular motions for even caramelization.
