Ingredients
  

  • 8 slices brioche or challah bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar topping

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish and arrange sliced brioche or challah.
  2. Whisk eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  3. Pour custard over the bread, pressing gently to soak. Refrigerate 30 minutes or overnight.
  4. Bake 25–30 minutes until golden and set. Broil 2–3 minutes for extra crispness.
  5. Sprinkle sugar on top and caramelize with a torch or broiler until crisp.
  6. Cool slightly and serve with berries, powdered sugar, or maple syrup.

Notes

Use brioche for best texture; torch in circular motions for even caramelization.
