Ingredients

  • 4 oz cream cheese softened (brick style, not spreadable)
  • 4 –5 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 tsp peppermint extract
  • Optional: food coloring 1 tbsp butter, or alternative extracts (vanilla, almond, spearmint)

Method

  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Beat softened cream cheese with peppermint extract until smooth.
  3. Gradually add powdered sugar until a soft, pliable dough forms.
  4. Divide dough and add food coloring if desired.
  5. Roll teaspoon-sized portions into balls, then press lightly with a fork for the classic design.
  6. Refrigerate uncovered 8–12 hours until firm, then store in airtight containers.

Notes

Use softened cream cheese for smooth texture. Add sugar gradually until dough feels like play-dough. Always allow adequate drying time for best consistency.
