  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¾ cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ cup chocolate chips
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg white
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment or foil.
  2. Mix melted butter and sugar and let sit briefly.
  3. Whisk in eggs, water, and vanilla extract.
  4. Fold in cocoa powder, flour, and salt until combined.
  5. Reserve one-third of the batter and spread remaining batter in pan.
  6. Beat cream cheese until smooth and mix in sugar, flour, egg white, and vanilla.
  7. Spoon cream cheese mixture and reserved brownie batter over the base.
  8. Gently swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  9. Bake until set with slight jiggle in center.
  10. Cool completely before slicing.
