  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until glossy and combined.
  3. Add vanilla and beat in eggs one at a time until smooth.
  4. Sift flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto baking sheet and bake 10-12 minutes.
  8. Cool 5 minutes on baking sheet, then transfer to a cooling rack; drizzle with white chocolate if desired.
