Simple Chewy French Toast Cookies Recipe

Soft, chewy cookies packed with cinnamon, nutmeg, oats, and melty white chocolate chips that taste just like warm French toast in every bite — the ultimate viral breakfast cookie.

Ingredients

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup milk
  • cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • ¾ cup white chocolate chips
  • ½ tsp maple extract optional
  • Cinnamon sugar for rolling optional

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg, vanilla extract, and maple extract if using, and beat well.
  5. Mix in milk until combined.
  6. Add dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  7. Fold in oats and white chocolate chips.
  8. Scoop dough into 1½ tablespoon balls.
  9. Optional: roll in cinnamon sugar.
  10. Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden and centers are soft.
  11. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.

Notes

Do not overbake to keep cookies chewy. Use old-fashioned oats for best texture. Cream butter and sugar well for soft centers. Chill dough if cookies spread too much.
