Ingredients

  • 4 large day-old croissants cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and butter a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cut croissants into bite-sized pieces and spread evenly in the baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  4. Pour custard mixture evenly over croissants.
  5. Let sit for 15 minutes to allow croissants to absorb the custard.
  6. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes until golden brown and set in the center.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best texture, use stale croissants and allow sufficient soaking time before baking.
