Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract and mix until combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients and mix just until incorporated.
- Roll tablespoon-sized portions of dough into balls and place on baking sheets.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
- Cool completely before decorating with icing and sprinkles.
Notes
Do not overbake for best texture. Cookies can be decorated for holidays or seasonal themes.
