Method
- Choose a microwave-safe mug (10–12 oz capacity) and lightly grease it with butter or cooking spray.
- Add flour, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder to the mug. Mix well with a fork until evenly combined.
- Make a small well and add milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Stir until just combined—avoid overmixing.
- Fold in chocolate chips if desired, reserving a few for topping.
- Microwave on high for 60–90 seconds, checking for doneness after 1 minute. The edges should be set and the center slightly gooey.
- Let cool for 1–2 minutes before enjoying directly from the mug or topped with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
Microwave wattages vary, so start with 60 seconds and increase in 10-second intervals if needed. Slightly undercooked brownies will continue to set as they cool for a fudgier texture.
