  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger grated
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 20 frozen wontons chicken, pork, shrimp, or vegetable
  • Chopped scallions for garnish

Method

  1. Heat sesame oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add grated ginger and minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  3. Pour in chicken broth and water, stirring to combine.
  4. Add soy sauce, rice vinegar, salt, and white pepper.
  5. Bring the broth to a boil.
  6. Gently add frozen wontons and stir lightly to prevent sticking.
  7. Reduce heat and simmer until wontons are tender and floating.

Notes

Use low-sodium broth and soy sauce to control salt levels. Do not overboil to keep wontons tender.
