Ingredients

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in granulated and brown sugars until smooth.
  3. Let mixture cool slightly, then beat in eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Spread batter evenly in the pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
  8. Cool completely before slicing into squares for fudgy, chewy brownies.

Notes

Use high-quality cocoa powder for deeper flavor and avoid overbaking to keep brownies moist. For a gluten-free version, use a 1:1 GF flour blend.
