Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh bread dough or thawed frozen dough
  • ¼ pound sliced deli pepperoni
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese sliced
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese optional
  • Warm marinara sauce for dipping

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough into a 12×10-inch rectangle of even thickness.
  3. Layer pepperoni slices evenly over dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Add mozzarella slices on top.
  4. Starting from the long edge, roll dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seam and ends to seal.
  5. Place seam-side down on baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with Italian seasoning and Parmesan.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped. Internal temperature should reach 190°F.
  7. Cool 10–15 minutes before slicing into 1–2 inch portions. Serve warm with marinara sauce.

Notes

Avoid overstuffing to prevent bursting. Brush with egg wash for a glossy, golden crust. Allow to rest before slicing to keep cheese from oozing out.
