Ingredients

  • 6 medium apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp
  • 6 wooden candy apple sticks
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon blue or green food coloring
  • 1/4 cup white chocolate chips optional
  • Winter-themed sprinkles

Method

  1. Wash apples thoroughly, remove any wax residue, dry completely, and insert wooden sticks firmly into each apple.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease.
  3. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, water, corn syrup, and vanilla extract.
  4. Cook over medium heat until mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  5. Remove from heat and carefully stir in food coloring.
  6. Quickly dip each apple into the candy mixture, swirling to coat evenly.
  7. Allow excess candy to drip off and place apples on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Melt white chocolate and drizzle over apples if using.
  9. Add winter-themed sprinkles while coating is still tacky.
  10. Allow apples to cool and harden completely before serving.

Notes

Work quickly once the candy reaches temperature, as it hardens fast. Apples must be completely dry for proper coating adhesion.
