Method
- Divide Chex cereal into two bowls (3.5 cups each) for even coating.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 1 cup pink candy melts with 1 tsp oil in 30-second increments, stirring until smooth. Pour over one bowl of cereal and fold gently to coat.
- Transfer coated cereal to a zip-top bag, add ½ cup powdered sugar, seal, and shake until evenly coated. Spread on wax paper to set.
- Repeat with red candy melts, remaining oil, and cereal. Melt, coat, sugar-shake, and spread to cool.
- After both batches have set (about 30 minutes), combine in a large bowl. Add M&M’s and sprinkles, mixing gently.
- Serve in heart-shaped bowls or package as festive gifts.
Notes
Avoid overheating candy melts — stir frequently for a smooth texture. For a vegan version, use dairy-free candy melts and chocolate gems. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
