Ingredients
  

  • 2 large fresh oranges juice and zest
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 packet unflavored gelatin
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract optional
  • Pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

  1. Wash oranges thoroughly, zest the peel, and juice until you have 3/4 cup fresh orange juice.
  2. Combine orange juice, water, sugar, and corn syrup in a saucepan and heat over medium until sugar dissolves.
  3. Simmer mixture for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Bloom gelatin in 1/4 cup cold water for 5 minutes.
  5. Add gelatin to the warm syrup and stir until fully dissolved.
  6. Stir in butter and orange zest, cooking for 5 more minutes until thickened.
  7. Remove from heat and cool at room temperature for 1–2 hours.
  8. Pour into a lined or greased 8×8-inch dish or silicone molds.
  9. Refrigerate for 4–6 hours until fully set.
  10. Cut into bite-sized pieces and dust lightly with powdered sugar.

Notes

Use fresh, unwaxed oranges for best flavor. Allow candy to set completely before cutting. Store in airtight containers to prevent sticking.
