Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken sausage
  • ¼ cup chopped onion
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese grated
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp hot sauce optional
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Dash of red pepper flakes
  • 2 cups baking mix such as Bisquick
  • cup milk
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a skillet, cook chicken sausage and onion over medium-high heat for 8–10 minutes until browned. Drain and cool slightly.
  3. In a bowl, whisk egg, Parmesan, cheddar, hot sauce, salt, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Add baking mix, milk, and mayonnaise; stir gently until combined.
  5. Fold in cooled sausage mixture using a spatula until evenly distributed.
  6. Pour batter into loaf pan, smooth top, and bake 45–50 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Cool in pan 10–15 minutes before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

Avoid overmixing the batter to keep it tender. Drain sausage well and allow cooling time before mixing. Store cooled bread tightly wrapped for up to 5 days, or freeze slices for up to 3 months.
