Ingredients
  

  • 224 g unsalted butter room temperature
  • 155 g granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp almond extract optional
  • 293 g all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Gel food coloring optional
  • Sprinkles for decorating

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare cookie press with chosen disc.
  2. Cream butter and sugar for 5–7 minutes until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in egg, vanilla, and almond extract.
  4. Add flour and salt; mix on low until dough forms.
  5. Divide dough and tint with gel food coloring if desired.
  6. Load dough into cookie press and press cookies 1 inch apart onto ungreased sheets.
  7. Bake 10–12 minutes until set but not browned.
  8. Cool 5 minutes on sheet, then transfer to wire rack.

Notes

For perfect spritz cookies, use softened—not melted—butter, avoid greasing pans, and keep dough at the right temperature for easy pressing.
