Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare cookie press with chosen disc.
- Cream butter and sugar for 5–7 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg, vanilla, and almond extract.
- Add flour and salt; mix on low until dough forms.
- Divide dough and tint with gel food coloring if desired.
- Load dough into cookie press and press cookies 1 inch apart onto ungreased sheets.
- Bake 10–12 minutes until set but not browned.
- Cool 5 minutes on sheet, then transfer to wire rack.
Notes
For perfect spritz cookies, use softened—not melted—butter, avoid greasing pans, and keep dough at the right temperature for easy pressing.
