- 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 Yellow Onion, Chopped
- 6 Cloves Roasted Garlic
- 1 Tbsp Italian Seasoning
- 1 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
- 1 (28oz) Can Crushed Tomato
- 3 Leaves Fresh Basil
- 1 (16oz) Pizza Dough, room temperature
- 1 Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
- 1 Tbsp Fresh Parsley, Chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat. Sauté chopped onion until translucent (5–7 minutes).
- Add roasted garlic, Italian seasoning, and sugar. Sauté 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes and add basil. Simmer on medium for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Blend the sauce until smooth and let cool.
- Preheat oven to 500℉ (260℃). Spray a baking sheet. Roll out dough and press into the pan edges.
- Dock the dough by piercing with a fork all over.
- Spread half of the tomato sauce on the dough. Top with ¾ cup parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes until crust is golden.
- Sprinkle remaining cheese and parsley. Cool 5 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Serve at room temperature for best flavor. For extra zest, top with crushed red pepper or balsamic glaze.
