Marshmallow Rice Bubbles Halloween Brains: The Ultimate Spooky Halloween Food Recipe

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 14 brains 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

These Marshmallow Rice Bubbles Halloween Brains are spooky, creepy, and irresistibly delicious. Ready in just 20 minutes, this recipe transforms simple pantry staples into disturbingly realistic brains that make the perfect Halloween centerpiece. Equal parts eerie and tasty, they’re guaranteed to wow your party guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 85g unsalted butter (or salted butter, omit extra salt)
  • 6 cups marshmallows (pink or white)
  • 4 cups Rice Bubbles (Rice Krispies)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Red food coloring
  • Optional: strawberry marshmallows, beet juice, or other food coloring for variety

Instructions

  1. Prepare a bain-marie by bringing water to a boil in a small pot and placing a heatproof bowl over it.
  2. Add butter and marshmallows, whisking until smooth and glossy (2–4 minutes).
  3. Remove from heat and whisk in salt and drops of red food coloring until desired pink hue is reached.
  4. Pour mixture over Rice Bubbles in a large bowl, mixing quickly until fully coated.
  5. Allow to cool slightly, then oil hands and shape mixture into oval brains. Use a butter knife to create a center groove and a toothpick dipped in food coloring to add veins.

Notes

Work quickly when mixing—if the marshmallow mixture cools too much, it won’t bind properly. Let the mixture cool slightly before shaping to avoid burns. Gradually add coloring for the best realistic brain effect. Store brains in airtight containers at room temperature up to 1 week. Perfect for Halloween dessert tables, zombie-themed parties, or spooky kids’ activities.
