Homemade Green Bean Casserole – Better Than Store-Bought!

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 6-8 servings 1x

Description

A classic holiday side dish with creamy mushroom sauce, tender green beans, and crispy fried onions. Easy, comforting, and perfect for every festive table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (15-ounce) cans green beans, drained
  • 1 (10.5-ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1⅓ cups French fried onions (divided)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper until combined.
  3. Fold in 2/3 cup French fried onions.
  4. Spread mixture into prepared baking dish and bake 25 minutes until bubbly.
  5. Top with remaining fried onions and bake 5 minutes more until golden brown.

Notes

Drain canned beans thoroughly to avoid watery casserole. Use blanched fresh or frozen beans as a substitute. Keep some fried onions aside for topping to maintain crunch.
