Ingredients

- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon red or pink food coloring
- 1/2 teaspoon almond or strawberry extract (optional)
- 1 1/2 cups Valentine’s sprinkles
Instructions
- Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugars in a stand mixer.
- Add butter gradually and mix until dough forms.
- Mix in vanilla extract.
- Divide dough in half; color one portion pink or red.
- Roll each dough portion into rectangles between wax paper.
- Chill dough sheets for 1 hour.
- Stack dough layers, roll jelly-roll style, and trim edges.
- Roll dough log in Valentine’s sprinkles.
- Wrap and chill for 2–3 hours.
- Slice into rounds and bake at 350°F for 15–17 minutes.
Notes
Keep dough chilled at every stage for clean swirls. Use a sharp knife for slicing and press sprinkles firmly into the dough before chilling.
