This orange candy recipe turns simple oranges into tangy, chewy homemade treats that are perfect for snacking, gifting, or decorating desserts.

- 3 small oranges or tangelos (18–20 slices)
- 3 cups granulated sugar
- 3 cups water
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar for coating (optional)
- 4–6 oz dark or milk chocolate, melted (optional)
- Pinch of flaky salt (optional)
Instructions
- Slice the oranges into even 1/4-inch thick rounds.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water and heat over medium until fully dissolved and gently boiling.
- Reduce heat to low and add the orange slices in a single layer.
- Simmer gently for 60 minutes, turning the slices every 15 minutes.
- Remove the slices with tongs and place them on a wire rack.
- Let dry at room temperature for 48 hours until slightly tacky but set.
- Roll in sugar or dip halfway in melted chocolate if desired.
- Sprinkle with flaky salt and allow to set before serving.
Notes
Slice the oranges evenly to ensure uniform texture. Allow proper drying time for best results.
