Description

These Date Brownies are naturally sweetened, ultra-fudgy, and made without refined sugar—using wholesome ingredients like Medjool dates, cocoa powder, and peanut butter to create a decadent yet healthy treat.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz Medjool dates, pitted
  • 2/3 cup boiling water
  • 3/4 cup peanut butter (or almond, cashew, or sunflower butter)
  • 2 tbsp flaxmeal (or ground chia seeds)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup oat flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • Sea salt flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a 9-inch square pan with greased parchment paper.
  2. Place pitted dates in a bowl and cover with boiling water; soak for 10 minutes.
  3. Transfer dates and liquid to a food processor. Add peanut butter, flaxmeal, and baking soda; blend until smooth.
  4. Add oat flour, cocoa powder, and vanilla; blend again into a thick chocolate batter.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips using short pulses.
  6. Spread batter into pan. Place a lightly oiled piece of parchment on top and press smooth.
  7. Bake 25–30 minutes until the surface is dry with slight cracks.
  8. Cool 10 minutes in pan, then fully on a rack before slicing.

Notes

For smoother brownies, ensure dates are fully softened. Cooling completely creates cleaner slices and enhances flavor.
