Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup plain flour (all-purpose)
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup white sugar (for coating)
- 1 tbsp cinnamon powder
Instructions
- Combine water, butter, salt, and sugar in a pan. Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve.
- Lower heat, stir in flour until dough pulls from the pan sides. Remove from heat.
- Cool dough for 4–5 minutes in a bowl. Add egg and vanilla. Beat until smooth and silky.
- Transfer to a piping bag with star tip. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and spray basket. Pipe bite-size pieces with space between.
- Lightly brush with melted butter and air fry for 10–12 minutes, shaking halfway through.
- Mix cinnamon and sugar in a bowl. Toss hot churro bites in coating right after air frying.
- Serve warm with chocolate sauce, honey, or Nutella.
Notes
For vegan version, use flax egg and vegan butter. Always let dough cool slightly before adding the egg. Don’t overcrowd the air fryer for best texture.
