Description
This Spritz Cookie Recipe creates buttery, delicate, melt-in-your-mouth holiday cookies using simple ingredients and classic spritz techniques for perfectly shaped treats every time.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract or almond extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Food coloring (optional)
- Sprinkles or sanding sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
- Add egg and vanilla (or almond extract), mixing until fully combined.
- Sift flour and salt together, then gradually mix into wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- Optional: Divide dough and knead in food coloring for festive variations.
- Load dough into a cookie press and press shapes onto an ungreased baking sheet. Decorate with sprinkles as desired.
- Bake 6–8 minutes until edges are set but not browned.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For best results, do not grease the baking sheet—spritz cookies adhere better and maintain their shape. Chill dough briefly if too soft to press.
