Description
This Hawaiian Garlic Shrimp recipe brings authentic North Shore food truck flavors to your kitchen with buttery, garlicky shrimp simmered in a tropical pineapple-lime sauce, ready in under 20 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup fresh pineapple juice
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (optional)
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (optional)
- 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- Pinch cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Pat shrimp completely dry with paper towels to ensure proper searing and prevent oil splatter.
- Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat until butter begins to foam.
- Sauté minced garlic for 1–2 minutes until fragrant and pale golden.
- Add shrimp and cook 2–3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
- Pour in pineapple juice, soy sauce, honey, and lime juice, stirring to combine and allow the sauce to reduce.
- Simmer 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens and coats the shrimp, season to taste, and garnish with cilantro before serving.
Notes
Do not brown the garlic or overcook the shrimp—perfectly cooked shrimp form a ‘C’ shape. Pat shrimp dry before cooking to ensure ideal texture.
