Ingredients
Scale
- For the Apple Filling:
- 6 cups sliced apples (Granny Smith + Golden Delicious)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- For the Crumble Topping:
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- Optional substitutions: oat flour, coconut sugar, vegan butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8 or 9×9 baking dish.
- In a bowl, toss apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Spread in baking dish.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, sugars, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture forms pea-sized crumbs.
- Sprinkle crumble evenly over apples.
- Bake 40–45 minutes until topping is golden and apples are tender.
- Cool 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Always use cold butter for a crisp crumble. Slice apples evenly (1/4-inch thick) for uniform baking. Cooling time allows juices to thicken properly.
