- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 packet unflavored gelatin
- 1 teaspoon orange extract (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Wash oranges thoroughly, zest the peel, and juice until you have 3/4 cup fresh orange juice.
- Combine orange juice, water, sugar, and corn syrup in a saucepan and heat over medium until sugar dissolves.
- Simmer mixture for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Bloom gelatin in 1/4 cup cold water for 5 minutes.
- Add gelatin to the warm syrup and stir until fully dissolved.
- Stir in butter and orange zest, cooking for 5 more minutes until thickened.
- Remove from heat and cool at room temperature for 1–2 hours.
- Pour into a lined or greased 8×8-inch dish or silicone molds.
- Refrigerate for 4–6 hours until fully set.
- Cut into bite-sized pieces and dust lightly with powdered sugar.
Notes
Use fresh, unwaxed oranges for best flavor. Allow candy to set completely before cutting. Store in airtight containers to prevent sticking.
