  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk melted butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  5. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in chopped pecans if using.
  7. Spread batter evenly into prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes until a toothpick shows moist crumbs.
  8. While brownies cool, combine coconut, pecans, evaporated milk, sugar, butter, and egg yolk in a saucepan.
  9. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.

  11. Spread topping evenly over cooled brownies.
